KerryOn: Let me run this by you


I don't know how many times the words let me run this by you have come out of my mouth – definitely more than I can count. Anytime I’ve come across something new, be it an opportunity or an obstacle, I begin to play around with ideas in my head. Inevitably, regardless of what the idea is, I end up sharing it with someone who can help provide insight into the situation.


While I would like to believe that I can solve all puzzles on my own, I know this is not true. I need to get perspectives from others to build upon my understanding in the moment. Having another perspective is important for a few reasons. One is to confirm my idea is either completely crazy or not crazy enough. The other reason is as an extroverted thinker, I need to process ideas by talking about them. When I practice let me run this by you it allows me to hear my own words out loud and provides a way to process the information.


There are times let me run this by you has altered the direction of my life. Therefore, the selected let me run this by you people are the most critical people in my life when it comes to my decisions. These are the people I seek out specifically in that moment to gain greater perspective. I trust my words will be confidential and they have my best interests in mind.

They can help me formulate new ideas by sharing unique perspectives I can build upon. And they keep letting me run it by them, until the view comes into focus.
