KerryOn: Enjoy. The. Ride.

You either love it, or you hate it. And I love the rollercoaster. I mean, I really love the rollercoaster. My husband and I have passed along this love to our kids. It’s always our first ride whenever we enter an amusement park. What makes it unique from all other rides is that it doesn’t just go in circles or one direction. It is filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, and the best part…anticipation. Especially when it slowly ascents one clickety-clackety at a time before pausing at the top.

The rollercoaster is the ride to face my fears. As I wait in line, I hear the rush of it whiz above me and the screech of riders as they soar along the tracks. And even when I feel a twinge of regret, I muster the courage to buckle up and ride. No matter how many times I’ve ridden a rollercoaster, I leave feeling ecstatic.

This winding ride is a metaphor for life. It gives us feelings of excitement, fear, exhilaration – all at once. It can feel out of control. Even when we are on a track, we risk our safety. And sometimes the speed can get the best of us – especially when we want to slow down and seem to accelerate faster and faster and faster. We can scream.

Yet, if we really embrace all the ups and downs, twists and turns, and anticipations we can begin to raise our hands in the air. We can find our place within the chaos of being tossed around. We can start to enjoy the ride. We can laugh.

While we can’t predict how life will turn out, there is one thing for sure… it’s one heck of a ride.

Buckle up. Scream. Laugh. And most importantly – Enjoy. The. Ride.
